It was announced on Wednesday that ten Cincinnati Bearcats have been named to the Phil Steele All-BIG EAST Team. Six Bearcats were named to the first team, three to the second team and one player was named to the third team. The six earning first team spots are the most of any of the BIG EAST schools.
Those earning first team honors are as follows:
Defensive End - Connor Barwin
Defensive Tackle - Terrill Byrd
Kick Returner - Mardy Gilyard
Wide Receiver - Dominick Goodman
Punter - Kevin Huber
Cornerback - Mike Mickens
Second team accolades went to - Gilyard as a wide receiver, offensive guard Trevor Canfield and linebacker Corey Smith. The third team honor went to linebacker Ryan Manalac.
This is huge for a team that's on the rise in college football. For a team that can't seem to keep a healthy quarterback on the field, earning these honors is a great step in the right direction for a program competing for the Big East Conference title this season.
