Look Ahead: Kansas City Chiefs

28. August 2012  - Published by Dan Clasgens

INSIDE THE NUMBERS
Wide receiver Dwayne Bowe went from 15 touchdowns in 2010 to scoring just five times last season. While some of that can be attributed to injuries within the offense, Bowe still lacked the big-play ability he displayed just a year earlier.  He still managed nine more receptions and only three less yards than he did over the previous season. He’s a decent WR2, but owners should expect numbers somewhere in the middle.

SCHEDULE
The first five games are not an easy slate to start off against and the Chiefs will have little margin for error. The fantasy playoffs look promising though for owners that will look to utilize Chiefs as they play at Cleveland, at Oakland and at home to Indianapolis in Weeks 14-16.

STUD
Before suffering an ACL injury two weeks into the 2011 season Jamal Charles was one of the most coveted players by fantasy owners.  He averaged 6.4 yards per carry in 2010 while nearly topping 2,000 total yards of offense and appears to be at 100 percent entering 2012. He’s sliding into Round 2 of most drafts and based on upside could prove to be one of fantasy’s great values in the year ahead.

DUD
After a disappointing rookie season, the Chiefs are hoping for big things from Jonathan Baldwin entering his sophomore campaign. He missed the first six games a year ago with a thumb injury and by time returned the rest of the offense was so banged up Baldwin could never find his groove. The talent is there, but he’s still too raw and with the competition high for limited passing targets his ceiling is limited.

SLEEPER
Matt Cassel
had a terrible 2011 campaign that was shortened by seven games due to a broken hand. However, in 2010 he threw a career-high 27 touchdowns for Kansas City. If he can stay healthy there are enough weapons surrounding him to suggest he could have a huge bounce back. The team’s conservative play calling still makes him a fantasy backup, but he could be a much better one than most expect.

NEW ADDITION

A year removed from the Madden Cover jinx Peyton Hillis looks for a fresh start in Kansas City. He’ll have a tough time getting a big workload with Charles healthy, but Hillis still figures to be used at the goalline and in short-yardage situations and is a more than capable receiver out of the backfield. Hillis is a great flex option and a low-end RB2 option in PPR formats.

POSITION BATTLE
It will be interesting to see how the tight end position evolves for the Chiefs as Tony Moeaki and Kevin Boss will battle it out for playing time. Both have shown flashes during their career to suggest they could be a worth fantasy contributor. However, with a near split expected it’s hard to envision either them being anything more than waiver wire fodder and bye week fillers.

BENCH BUILDER
With the offense is disarray last season, the versatile Dexter McCluster quietly put up some decent numbers.  Playing in hybrid role as a RB/WR he had 328 receiving yards on 46 catches and 521 yards on the ground on 102 carries.  He is going to continue to be used in Kansas City’s offense in this manner in the year ahead and if he’s running back eligible in your league he’s worth stashing, especially in PPR formats.

Fantasy Busts: Tight Ends

3. August 2010  - Published by Jimmy Dinsmore

I've posted my QB, RB and WR busts. Here are a couple wide receivers who might disappoint fantasy owners:

Kevin Boss (NYG) – Boss is a borderline #1 tight end in most league formats. But, he is coming off an injury that he continues to nurse. Plus, he was far too inconsistent to cause anything but frustration for most owners. This is not what you want from a TE1. Additionally, the Giants have discovered many weapons on the offensive side of the ball, like Steve Smith, Mario Manningham and Hakeem Nicks. There's just not enough to go around to make Boss an elite tight end and therefore, count on a down year from the Boss Man.

Greg Olsen (CHI) – Olsen is one of the few offensive weapons the Bears have, but unfortunately, a new offensive play caller is in the Windy City. Mike Martz, the so-called offensive genius, is the new offensive coordinator and he rarely involves tight ends in his offense. Despite a career year for Olsen, don't count on the same production this year from the Bears' tight end.

Jeremy Shockey (NO) – People, it's not the early 2000s any more and please stop considering Shockey an elite tight end. Heck, Shockey is not even worthy of a starting spot in your fantasy lineup. If your league requires a tight end spot in your lineup, then Shockey is, at best, a bye week filler. Leave him for the guy in your league who hasn't checked his calendar yet and take a chance on one of the sleepers listed here instead of Shockey.

Playoff Picks: Divisional Round

8. January 2009  - Published by Dan Clasgens

Man each week the NFL season draws closer to an end, and each week the depression kicks in a little more. Still, there are some great games on tap this weekend and I am going to try to enjoy them to the fullest. Let's take a look each game as I tell you how I see things unfolding and give you my picks.

BALTIMORE (12-5) at TENNESSEE (13-3) - Titans favored by 3
Outlook: The Titans won the Week 5 meeting 13-10 in Baltimore and this one promises to be another slugfest. Baltimore comes into the game off an impressive opening-round victory and seem to be clicking on all cylinders. In the Week 5 meeting the Ravens controlled the clock and limited Tennessee to 47 yards rushing. Tennessee will need more effective running the ball this time around. Ravens' QB Joe Flacco threw two picks in the first meeting, but hasn't been turning the ball over as much of late. The two teams are extremely similar statisically in PaYd per game, RuYd per game, points scored, points allowed, give-aways, and take-aways. The game could easily come down to which team can put points on the board with their defense of special teams.

My Pick: Ravens 20, Titans 16...The one underdog I like to win straight up this week.

Fantasy Clicks: PLAY - Chris Johnson, LeRon McClain, Derrick Mason, Bo Scaife, Rob Bironas, Matt Stover, Ravens DEF, Titans DEF; DON'T PLAY - Joe Flacco, Kerry Collins, LenDale White, Any Titans' WR, Todd Heap.

ARIZONA (10-7) at CAROLINA (12-4) - Panthers favored by 10
Outlook: Talk about two teams that are completely different, the Cardinals and Panthers have gotten to this point in completely different manners. The Panthers have a top-notched running game and an above average defense. The Cardinals boast the league's most prolific passing attack, but struggle to move the ball on the ground and has played inconsistent this year on defense. The game is in Carolina and that could be the difference. Arizona is just 3-5 away from the friendly confines of the desert and and the Panthers are a perfect 8-0 at Bank of America Stadium. Kurt Warner has passed for twice as many TD's as Jake Delhomme (30:15), but Edgerrin James and Tim Hightower collectively were nearly outproduced by the Panthers' No. 2 running back Jonathan Stewart on the ground (913 yards to 836 yards). DeAngelo Williams finished thrid in the NFL in rushing with 1515 yards.

My Pick: Carolina 31, Arizona 20...The Cards will have some success on offense, but will not be able to stop the run this week.

Fantasy Clicks: PLAY - Jake Delhomme, Kurt Warner, DeAngelo Williams, Edgerrin James, Jonathan Stewart, Steve Smith, Larry Fitzgerald, Steve Breaston, Anquan Boldin (game-time decision), Mushin Muhammad, John Kasay, Neil Rackers; DON'T PLAY - Tim Hightower, Stephen Spach, Donte Rosario, Panthers DEF, Cardinals DEF.

PHILADELPHIA (10-6-1) at NY GIANTS (13-3) - Giants favored by 4.5

Outlook: I am still trying to figure out the Eagles even got this point. It wasn't too long ago I went and watched them tie the Bengals. Much has happened since then and the Eagles have won 4 of their last 5 games to get to this point. The Giants are the defending champs and come into the game well rested. While the Eagles finished the season red hot, the Giants were a bit sluggish down the stretch as they dealt with problems on and off the field. The two teams split in their head-to-head match-ups with Philly, winning 20-14 in Week 14 at the Meadowlands. Eli Manning has looked rough down the stretch (only averaging 153 PaYd per game w/out Plaxico). The G-Men will enjoy a healthy return of Brandon Jacobs.

My Pick: Giants 20, Eagles 14...the rubber match should be a good one, but I still like the champs coming off two weeks of rest.

Fantasy Clicks: PLAY - Donovan McNabb, Brian Westbrook, Brandon Jacobs, Derrick Ward, DeSean Jackson, Kevin Curtis, Domenik Hixon, Kevin Boss, Brent Celek, Eagles DEF, David Akers, John Carney; DON'T PLAY - Eli Manning, Correll Buckhalter, Amani Toomer, Giants DEF.

SAN DIEGO (9-8) at PITTSBURGH (12-4) - Steelers favored by 6

Outlook: A little over a month ago I pegged the Chargers as the most overrated team and declared Norv Turner one of the worst coaches in the league. It's amazing what five straight wins can do for job somebody's job security. Behind the Pro Bowl caliber play of Phillip Rivers and the speedy Darren Sproles San Diego has caught a bolt of lightning. Pittsburgh's defense is as good as ever and quarterback Ben Roethlisberger continues to find ways to win. The Steelers' ground attack has been disappointing, but it hasn't matter much as they've continue to beat good team after good team. They have the best homefield advantage of any team in the playoffs and that could make the difference here. San Diego lost at Pittsburhg in Week 11 in the first 11-10 game in NFL history.

My Pick: Pittsburgh 21, Chargers 14...as much as I hate them the Steelers are my Super Bowl pick right now and I am sticking with it!

Fantasy Clicks: PLAY - Ben Roethlisberger, Willie Parker, Hines Ward, Santonio Holmes, Vincent Jackson, Antonio Gates, Heath Miller, Steelers; DON'T PLAY - Phillip Rivers, Darren Sproles (fear the Steelers' D), LaDainian Tomlinson (hurt), Chris Chambers, Chargers DEF, Nate Kaeding, Jeff Reed.

Lineup Locks: Week 11

14. November 2008  - Published by Jimmy Dinsmore

Here is our Line-Up Locks for Week 11. Bye weeks are finally over and this week's games have a lot of great match ups. I only list three, but there are plenty of good options this week. Here's a quick look at those who have favorable matchups (LOCK IN) and those who deserve a spot on your bench this week (LOCK OUT):

QUARTERBACKS
Lock In:
--Matt Ryan vs. Den
My take: Ryan has performed like a veteran for the very underrated Atlanta Falcons. This week his match up is so good, you have to consider Ryan a top 10 QB this week. Expect a couple of scores and at least 200 yards from him.

--Donovan McNabb @ Cin
My take: McNabb should have time to shred the Bengals defense, and can still scramble away from any pressure the defense might put on him.

--Trent Edwards vs. Cle
My take: Edwards has been hot and cold but is poised for a very nice week in what could be an offensive shootout.

Lock Out:
--Chad Pennington vs. Oak
My take: Last week I hyped up Jake Delhomme to exploit the Deangelo Hall-less Raider secondary and that didn't happen. The Raiders are a mess on offense, but have actually overperformed on defense all year. I think the Dolphins will use a lot of Ronnie Brown this week in order to win the game.

--Eli Manning vs. Bal
My take: I think the Giants will win this game, but I don't think Eli does much to warrant a start this week.

--David Garrard vs. Ten
My take: The Jags have been a huge disappointment and with their season slipping away face one of the toughest defenses in the NFL. Until I see improvement from Jacksonville's o-line, I am leaving Garrard on the bench.

RUNNING BACKS
Lock In:
--DeAngelo Williams vs. Det
My take: I say start every Panther you can in this game, if possible as Detroit can't stop anything. It might be a shootout, but I think Williams could be the best of the scorers for Carolina this week.

--Tim Hightower @ Sea
My take: This year's rookie running backs has been a fruitful crop. Hightower is no different. While the Cardinals are a pass-first team, I think Hightower gets 100 yards and a score this week in what could be a closer game than some think.

--Marshawn Lynch vs. Cle
My take: Lynch has been a disappointment, but I think he comes back in a big way this week. As long as he gets 20 touches, he'll be good for 100 yards and a score.

Lock Out:
--Maurice Jones-Drew vs. Ten
My take: The Titans are the second best team in the NFL in rush defense. Factor in how bad the Jags o-line has been and I don't like MJD's chances this week.

--Earnest Graham vs. Min
My take: Several factors should keep Graham on the bench. Warrick Dunn is back from an injury, as is Cadillac Williams. Plus, Graham is gimpy and questionable with a bum knee and the Vikings are the #1 rush defense in the NFL.

--Justin Fargas @ Mia
My take: The match up isn't particular ominous for Fargas, but Darren McFadden is allegedly going to play this week and, in case you haven't been paying attention, the Raiders offense is atrocious. I would not start any Raiders at this point.

WIDE RECEIVERS
Lock In:
--Santana Moss vs. Dal
My take: Clinton Portis is likely not going to play, which means the Skins are going to have to air it out in order to beat the Cowboys and I think Moss will benefit from increased touches, especially in PPR leagues.

--Steve Smith vs. Det
My take: I realize that Smith and Delhomme had a great match up last week and were fairly disappointing, but this week, at home, versus a lousy Lions team, you can count on a great game from Smith.

--Roddy White vs. Den
My take: The Broncos can't stop anyone from scoring and moving down the field. The Falcons' offense is very good at home. And White has been one of the most consistent WRs in terms of production that no way you don't start him this week.

Lock Out:
--Vincent Jackson @ Pit
My take: This is a tough match up for the Chargers in general, and as a result, I think you can expect very little from Jackson this week.

--Bernard Berrian @ TB
My take: I have said several times in this column how underrated the Tampa defense is and for this reason, I think it will be a low-scoring affair. Berrian is a borderline starter every week, but not this week.

--Marvin Harrison vs. Hou
My take: He's a Hall of Famer, for sure, but he isn't that Hall of Fame talent any more. I don't think Harrison warrants a start in anyone's lineups now that bye weeks are over.

TIGHT ENDS
Lock In:
--Chris Cooley vs. Dal
My take:  As mentioned, without Portis, Jason Campbell will look to Cooley often as a safety valve.

--Owen Daniels @ Ind
My take: Daniels is a fantasy stud and gets a great match up this week.

--Kellen Winslow @ Buf
My take: He was targeted 11 times last week by new QB Brady Quinn and put up over 100 yards and a score. Expect nice numbers again this week from Winslow.

Lock Out:
--Greg Olsen @ GB
My take: The Packer secondary is very good and so are their linebackers. I'm not confident in anyone on the Bears defense this week.

--Todd Heap @ NYG
My take: Yes that was Todd Heap in the end zone last week, but don't get too excited and do something foolish like start him.

--Kevin Boss vs. Bal
My take: And yes that was Kevin Boss in the end zone last week, but again, don't do anything foolish like start him.

TEAM DEFENSE/ST
Lock In:
--Carolina vs.Det
--NYG vs. Bal
--Phi @ Cin

Lock Out:
--Buf vs. Cle
--Atlanta vs. Den
--Was vs. Dal

Lineup Locks: Week 10

6. November 2008  - Published by Jimmy Dinsmore

Here is an early edition of Line-Up Locks for Week 10. Remember, there's a game tonight between the Browns and the Broncos, so set your lineups early, if necessary. Here's a quick look at those who have favorable matchups (LOCK IN) and those who deserve a spot on your bench this week (LOCK OUT):

QUARTERBACKS
Lock In:
--Phillip Rivers vs. KC
My take: Rivers is quietly one of the most consistent QBs in all of fantasy football. This week he gets a nice match up and could exploit the Chiefs defense for a couple of scores.

--Matt Ryan vs. NO
My take: The NFL's clear-cut favorite to win Rookie of the Year is Matt Ryan, and deservedly so. Ryan has looked like a savvy veteran and will get a chance to show off his skills at home against a bad New Orleans defense. Ryan is a much better QB at home than on the road. This is the week to use him if you have him.

--Jake Delhomme @ Oak
My take: This is usually the time of the year when Delhomme and Steve Smith get hot and that's exactly what's happening. Look for a couple scores from Jake this week, especially because, inexplicably Al Davis cut Deangelo Hall this week, further weakening the Raiders defense.

Lock Out:
--Donovan McNabb vs. NYG
My take: McNabb has put up very nice numbers all year, so why is he on this part of the list? Well, the Giants defense is ferocious and even a scrambler like McNabb will face intense pressure. This will lead to less production and more turnovers from him. He might still be your best QB, but if you have someone like Matt Ryan behind him, then move him to the bench for this week.

--Sage Rosenfels vs. Bal
My take: The waiver wire du jour should not be played this week. I know that the Texans passing game has impressed, but I just think they run better with Scaub under center and will face a Ravens defense that is still very tough.

--Brady Quinn vs. Den
My take: It's very tempting to put Quinn in this week, I know. The match up is ideal (Denver's defense is easy to score on). But, Quinn has had little to no time in practice to work with the first team. Since this is a Thursday game, he's had two days in fact. That's what scares me. Take a wait and see approach with Quinn.

RUNNING BACKS
Lock In:
--Jamaal Charles @ SD
My take: Charles showed who's really in charge in the Chiefs backfield now. With LJ not playing again this week, expect a repeat performance of 100+ yards and a score from Charles this week.

--Maurice Jones-Drew @ Det
My take: MJD was in this same spot last week and disappointed against the Bengals of all teams. I'll chalk that up to a fluke, but if he can't put up good stats versus the Lions, then it's officially time to worry about him.

--Jamal Lewis vs. Den
My take: Get Lewis in your lineup for tonight's game. The Broncos defense is terrible and Romeo Crennel will try to run the ball a lot to take some pressure off Brady Quinn.

Lock Out:
--Stephen Jackson @ NYJ
My take: S-Jax didn't practice yesterday and Coach Haslett said that if Jackson can't practice fully, he won't play this week. Plus, I'm putting Jackson on this list out of spite becaus those of us who own him are probably coming off losses thanks to the egg he laid last week. Until he shows he's healthy, I'm benching him.

--Ryan Grant @ Min
My take: Grant has been a huge disappointment this season. He's yet to produce big, consistent numbers and has a tough match up this week.

--Joseph Addai @ Pit
My take: Addai can also be considered a huge disappointment this year and like Grant, faces a tough match up this week.

WIDE RECEIVERS
Lock In:
--Brandon Marshall @ Cle
My take: The Broncos could really light up the scoreboard tonight and Marshall should see plenty of catches and scoring chances against a very bad Browns secondary.

--Steve Smith @ Oak
My take: As mentioned, this is usually when Smith starts to find his groove and he's coming off a two TD performance last week. No Deangelo Hall on him means plenty of open routes for Smith.

--Marques Colston @ Atl
My take: The Saints miss Reggie Bush. As a result, they have to throw it a lot more and Colston will benefit from what could be a shootout.

Lock Out:
--Desean Jackson vs. NYG
My take: As rookies tend to do, Jackson has faded as the season has worn on. This week will be no exception, keep him out until he shows flashes like he did early in the year.

--Devin Hester vs. Ten
My take: I have never been sold on Hester as a viable fantasy WR (yet). Many seem to still start him. With potentially a new QB under center and going against the NFL's best defense, why would you start him this week?

--Donnie Avery @ NYJ
My take: I go and put this guy in as a lock-in last week saying he's finally convinced me and what does he do but lay an egg? So, I am back to believing that if you can't score versus the Cardinals on your own home turf, then you don't deserve a start this week on the road against the Jets.

TIGHT ENDS
Lock In:
--Antonio Gates vs. KC
My take:  Not that you were going to bench him anyway, but this could be a huge week for Gates.

--Owen Daniels vs. Bal
My take: It's a tough match up, yes, but Daniels has proven that he's an every week starter regardless

--Kellen Winslow vs. Den
My take: Winslow loves the national spotlight and will get some soft coverage to exploit tonight. He allegdly liked the move to Brady Quinn, so let's see if that increases his targets.

Lock Out:
--Kevin Boss @ Phi
My take: This guy is too inconsistent to be counted on as a fantasy starter. This week it's a bad match up, too.

--Tony Scheffler @ Cle
My take: Again, until he proves he's back and can produce numbers for you, don't risk starting him.

--Zach Miller vs. Car
My take: He is in the top 5 of receiving yards for tight ends, but he has only one TD. I would expect no scores and limited yardage this week.

TEAM DEFENSE/ST
Lock In:
--Carolina @ Oak
--Miami vs. Sea
--Jacksonville @ Det

Lock Out:
--San Francisco @ Ariz

--Atlanta vs. NO
--New England vs. Buf

Lineup Locks: Week 5

2. October 2008  - Published by Jimmy Dinsmore

Here is our Week 5 edition of Line-Up Locks. Here's a quick look at those who have favorable matchups (LOCK IN) and those who deserve a spot on your bench this week (LOCK OUT):

QUARTERBACKS
Lock In:
--Trent Edwards @ Ari
My take: The Cardinals gave up 6 TDs to Brett Favre. Edwards is good for at least two, maybe three against that kind of defense.

--Matt Schaub vs. Ind
My take: Schaub had two TDs last Sunday and I expect much of the same against an Indy defense that is vulnerable without Bob Sanders.

--Eli Manning vs. Sea
My take: Teams always seem to do better after a bye week. Be slightly concerned about Plaxico Burress' suspension this week, but I don't think it holds Eli's stats down much as I think Plax needs the Giants more than they need him.

Lock Out:
--Jason Campbell @ Phi
My take: This should be another great game in the NFC East, but unlike against Dallas last week, I expect the Eagles to pressure Campbell all day.

--Carson Palmer @ Dal
My take: I don't think he's going to play again this week, after last week's surprise inactive. Even if he plays, this match up could be a train wreck.

--Ben Roethlisberger @ Jax
My take: He's hurt and so is his offensive line who can't keep him healthy. Oh, and he's now having to rely on Mewelde Moore and Najeh Davenport to run the ball. The Jaguars are going to try to take Big Ben out of the game and make the Steelers beat them on the ground.

RUNNING BACKS
Lock In:
--Matt Forte @ Det
My take: Forte is going to be a force all game against the worst rush defense in the NFL. I expect Forte to be one of the top scorers of the week. He's even catching passes now.

--Earnest Graham @ Den
My take: The Broncos defense is non-existent and Jon Gruden is going to attack the Broncos on the ground and Graham owners will be the beneficiaries.

--Jonathan Stewart vs. KC
My take: Expect a nice Daily Show from this John Stewart as he will once again score at least once versus a lousy Chiefs rush defense.

Lock Out:

--Reggie Bush vs. Min
My take: If you're in a points per reception league, you'll want to keep Bush active, but from a rushing, yardage, scoring standpoint, the Vikings defense is still stout.

--Maurice Jones-Drew vs. Pit
My take: This will be a low-scoring affair and as always, you never know who's going to scalp a score away from MJD, including somebody named Montell Owens last Sunday. Frustrating.

--Edgerrin James vs. Buf
My take: Yes, he scored a couple of TDs last week, but he gained only 30 yards rushing. Take those TDs away and you have a risky pick. Don't risk it this week.

WIDE RECEIVERS
Lock In:

--Terrell Owens vs. Cin
My take: You likely weren't going to bench him, but this week, his frustrations will be over as the Bengals will cure all that ails him.

--Lee Evans @ Ari
My take: Did I mention that Brett Favre lit the Cardinals secondary up and so did Lavernues Coles (who by the way I picked as a lock in last week). I can't promise 3 TDs, but I can tell you to lock in Evans.

--DeSean Jackson vs. Was
My take: This guy has shown me enough and produced enough to convince me that he's worthy of a lock in, especially this week. Tougher matchup, but he'll still get his.

Lock Out:
--Chad Johnson/TJ Housmanzadeh @ Dal
My take: If Carson Palmer plays, play TJ for sure, if Fitzpatrick is under center, stay away altogether.

--Donald Driver vs. Atl
My take: Aaron Rodgers is very questionable. If he doesn't play, bench Driver, for sure. Even if he plays, I don't like his chances this week.

--Santonio Holmes @ Jax
My take: As I mentioned, the Jags are likely to shut down the passing game because the Steelers are decimated with injuries in their backfield and on offensive line.

TIGHT ENDS
Lock In:

--Jason Witten @ Cin
My take:  You know to start Witten every week, but this match up doesn't get any better than this one. If you have another solid TE and can move Witten to a flex or WR spot, do it because he will produce like an elite WR this week.

--Kevin Boss vs NyG
My take: Plaxico Burress' suspension helps Boss' value, plus Manning has started targeting his big TE more and more.

--Heath Miller @ Jax
My take: While I think the Steelers will struggle to score, they will at least get one TD and I think Miller will be the likely candidate for it.

Lock Out:
--Vernon Davis vs. NE
My take: Not only should he not be in your lineup, he should be on your waiver wire, because he's done absolutely nothing and that trend will continue.

--Todd Heap vs. Ten
My take: He was on this list last week, and he deserved it. Dan Clasgens said it well, Heap belongs on the scrap heap.

--John Carlson @ NyG
My take: With Bobby Engram and Deion Branch back and with a tough match up against the Giants, I don't like Carlson too much this week.

TEAM DEFENSE/ST
Lock In:

--Dallas vs. Cin
--Chicago @ Det
--Jacksonville vs. Pitt.

Lock Out:
--Tampa Bay @ Den
--Buffalo @ Ariz
--Minnesota @ NO

Trendspotter: Week 3

20. September 2008  - Published by Jim Humbert
You may have already heard a few of these statistical trends in the FANTASY PLAYBOOK PODCAST, but here are a few more for you to think about this weekend.

LaDainian Tomlinson - Bad toe aside, LT is no stranger to getting off to a slow start. Last season he had just 68 rushing yards through two games. In 2005 he had just 124 and in 2003 only 127 yards in the first two weeks combined.

Detroit Defense - The Lions have allowed each of their last eight opponents to score at least 20 points. In those games they gave up a total of 294 points which is an average of just under 37 per game.

Reggie Wayne - The Colts WR has averaged 112 yards in his last five games against the Jaguars. However he has scored just three times in 12 games against the division rival. His touchdown at home last year was his first versus the Jags since 2003.

Kyle Orton - In 10 home games started by the Bears QB he has averaged 113.8 ypg with 8 TD and 10 interceptions. However, the Bears won nine of those ten and eight in a row.

Seattle Defense - The Seahawks have struggled on D this year allowing 33 and 34 points in their first two games. But they have played well against the Rams in recent times. Last year at home they held the Rams to just six points. They sacked Marc Bulger seven times in that game, four by Darryl  Tapp, and picked him off three times. Bulger has thrown just one interception in the first two games this year but has already been sacked 10 times - the second highest total in the league.

Derek Anderson - In his last nine games the Browns QB has 10 TD and 12 interceptions. In five of his last six games he was held to under 200 passing yards, including both games this year.

Houston Running Backs - In their last four trips to Tennessee the Texans have had four different leading rushers. Ron Dayne had 86 yards and a touchdown last year. In 2006 Wali Lundy ran for 116 yards. In 2005 it was Dominick Williams with 130 yards. And in 2004 Jonathan Wells led the team with 73 yards and a score. That may be good news for Steve Slaton.

Giants Tight Ends - Without the presence of Jeremy Shockey, the Giants have not used their tight ends much in the first two games. No Giants TE has caught a pass yet this year and Kevin Boss has been targeted just three times.

Ben Roethlisberger - In 57 career starts Big Ben has thrown for more than 300 yards just five times. The Steelers lost the last four times he hit that mark and their only win came back in 2004 against the Giants. In those 300+ yard passing games Roethlisberger threw eight touchdowns and 15 interceptions.
