Office Pool Picks: Week 20

19. January 2013  - Published by Dan Clasgens

I continued to stay red hot during the DIVISIONAL ROUND action of the NFL Playoffs! I went 3-1 with my confidence picks, losing only with the DEN-BAL pick. My Patriots survivor pick looked like the lock it was. I went 3-0 ATS to take my playoff record to 7-0 versus the bookie! For the last time for the 2012 season here's my picks:

CONFIDENCE POOL
SURVIVOR PICK
AGAINST SPREAD

02 49ers at ATL
01 Patriots vs BAL

Year-to-date: 166-84 (0.664 winning percentage)

MY PICK: 49ERS - The Falcons have argued all year that they haven't received the respect they deserve. They are a good team, but the 49ers are simply better. San Francisco has played a much tougher schedule and put up bettter numbers. The game will be closer than some think, but San Fran wins pulling away.

Season Starting Balance: $500
Balance Heading Into Week: $777

$110 Ravens +8.5

$110 Under 52 BAL/NE

$55 49ers -4

Office Pool Picks: Week 19

11. January 2013  - Published by Dan Clasgens

I started off the playoffs by drilling the WILDCARD ROUND. The only thing I missed was my 1-point pick in the Confidence Pool with the Bengals. My Survivor Pick of the Packers was the way to go and both my bets Under 43.5 CIN/HOU and Seahawks (-3) came through. Let's move on to the Divisional Round baby:

CONFIDENCE POOL
SURVIVOR PICK
AGAINST SPREAD

04 Patriots vs HOU
03 Broncos vs BAL
02 Seahawks at ATL
01 49ers vs GB

Year-to-date: 163-83 (0.663 winning percentage)

MY PICK: PATRIOTS - When they met in December it was ugly and expecting that big of a result again is naive. Still, the Texans are only alive because they played the Bengals last week. The Pats are fresh and just that much better. Look for a double-digit win by the home team.

Season Starting Balance: $500
Balance Heading Into Week: $577

$110 Patriots -9.5

$55 Ravens +9.5

$55 Over 45 GB/SF

Office Pool Picks: Week 18

4. January 2013  - Published by Dan Clasgens

I wrapped up the regualr season with a decent effort in WEEK 17. I went 11-5 with my confidence pool picks to finish 2012 picking 2 out of every three NFL games straight up. For the sixth time in seven weeks both my Survivor picks came through as the Broncos and Bills both hit. I missed on my underdogs of PHI (+7) and ARI (+16.5), but save faced against the spread with the under coming in on the Jets/Bills. It's a whole new season, here are my Wildcard Weekend picks:

CONFIDENCE POOL
SURVIVOR PICK
AGAINST SPREAD

04 Packers vs MIN
03 Ravens vs IND
02 Seahawks at WAS
01 Bengals at HOU

Year-to-date: 160-82 (0.661 winning percentage)

MY PICK: PACKERS - Though the 7.5 points may be too rich for my blood, if I had to pick one team to win this week the best bet is easily the Packers. Aaron Rodgers vs. Christian Ponder - enough said. Adrian Peterson may keep it close, but the Vikings' D will give in to Rodgers and his finally healthy targets.

Season Starting Balance: $500
Balance Heading Into Week: $422

$110 Under 43.5 CIN/HOU

$55 Seahawks -3

Office Pool Picks: Week 17

28. December 2012  - Published by Dan Clasgens

It was another unimpressive effort in WEEK 16 in my confidence pool picks as I finished with just a 9-7 mark. Both of my Survivor picks (CHI and CAR) won easily as they came out on top in their games by a combined 26 points. I stayed hot against the spread by going 2-1 and hitting both my big bets (JCK +14.5 and Over 45.5 WAS/PHI). Let's keep it rolling this week as we wrap up the regular-season action:

CONFIDENCE POOL
SURVIVOR PICK
AGAINST SPREAD

16 49ers vs ARZ
15 Broncos vs KC
14 Patriots vs MIA
13
Saints vs CAR
12 Bills vs NYJ
11 Seahawks vs STL
10 Redskins vs DAL
09 Steelers vs CLE
08
Giants vs PHI
07 Texans at IND
06 Falcons vs TB
05 Titans vs JCK
04 Chargers vs OAK
03 Packers at MIN
02 Bengals vs BAL
01 Lions vs CHI

Year-to-date: 149-77 (0.659 winning percentage)

MY PICK: BRONCOS - With a first-round bye and the potential of homefield advantage throughout the playoffs on the line look for the Broncos to take it to the Chiefs.

OUT ON A LIMB: BILLS - Both teams are a mess, but the fact the Jets are turning back to Mark Sanchez because of injury spells doom. We'll roll with the home team here in what will likely be Chan Gailey's last game as their head coach.

Season Starting Balance: $500
Balance Heading Into Week: $487

$110 Eagles +7

$110 Under 39.5 NYJ/BUF

$55 Cardinals +16.5

Office Pool Picks: Week 16

21. December 2012  - Published by Dan Clasgens

I went out on a limb last week a bit and finished with 8-8 mark with my WEEK 15 confidence pool picks. However, both Survivor picks (HOU and MIA) came through for me and I nailed both my $100 bets, going 2-1 against the spread. With just two weeks left in the regular season I'm looking for a strong finish.

CONFIDENCE POOL
SURVIVOR PICK
AGAINST SPREAD

16 Packers vs TEN
15 Colts at KC
14 Bears at ARZ
13 Falcons at DET
12 Panthers vs OAK
11 Texans vs MIN
10 Patriots at JCK
09 Redskins at PHI
08 Broncos vs CLE
07 Dolphins vs BUF
06 Steelers vs CIN
05 Bucs vs STL
04 Cowboys vs NO
03 49ers at SEA
02 Giants at BAL
01 Jets vs SD

Year-to-date: 140-70 (0.667 winning percentage)

MY PICK: BEARS - The Cardinals showed they weren't as bad as we thought they were last week vs. the Lions, or maybe Detroit is just that bad too. Either way even an injury-riddled Bears' team is in a different class.

OUT ON A LIMB: PANTHERS - Cam Newton and the Panthers are finishing with a bang. The Raiders are not. The long trip across the counrty will show in the 1PM start for the Silver and Black.

Season Starting Balance: $500
Balance Heading Into Week: $342

$110 Jaguars +14.5

$110 Over 45.5 WAS/PHI

$55 Browns +13

Office Pool Picks: Week 15

15. December 2012  - Published by Dan Clasgens

After yet another 9-7 mark in WEEK 14 in my confidence pool picks it's time to make up some ground so I'm taking some chances this time around. Survivor was a different story altogehter as my picks of the Seahawks and Browns won by a combined 88-7 margin. I covered the NE (-3.5) easy, but just missed on the Bears and Jaguars.

CONFIDENCE POOL
SURVIVOR PICK
AGAINST SPREAD

16 Lions at ARI
15 Texans vs IND
14 Titans vs NYJ
13 Seahawks at BUF
12 Saints vs TB
11 Dolphins vs JCK
10 Giants at ATL
09 Rams vs MIN
08 Ravens vs DEN
07 Cowboys vs PIT
06 Patriots vs SF
05 Raiders vs KC
04 Bengals at PHI
03 Browns vs WAS
02 Chargers vs CAR
01 Bears vs GB

Year-to-date: 132-62 (0.677 winning percentage)

MY PICK: TEXANS - After being embarassed on national TV Monday night at New England, expect a big bounce back by the Texans at home to the Colts.

OUT ON A LIMB: DOLPHINS - Most people in Survivor pools have yet to use Miami and at home at Jacksonville may be the best shot all season. This game could be closer than anicipated though so enter with caution.

Season Starting Balance: $500
Balance Heading Into Week: $197

$110 Titans -1

$110 Raiders -3

$55 Giants +1.5

Office Pool Picks: Week 14

8. December 2012  - Published by Dan Clasgens

It was a brutal for me in WEEK 13 with my confidence pools picks. I only went 9-7 and lost my 16 (SF) and 12-point (BAL) games. The 49ers survivor pick burned many, including me. Hopefully you went with my out on the limb pick of the Jets. The Niners (-7) cost me against the spread too as my top pick, but I hit on both the Bengals (-1.5) and the Eagles (+1) to break even. With the Broncos in the bag I'm already off to a good start for Week 14:

CONFIDENCE POOL
SURVIVOR PICK
AGAINST SPREAD

16 Broncos at OAK
15 Bucs vs PHI
14 49ers vs MIA
13 Steelers vs SD
12 Patriots vs HOU
11 Falcons at CAR
10 Packers vs DET
09 Seahaws vs ARZ
08 Bears at MIN
07 Giants vs NO
06 Colts vs TEN
05 Browns vs KC
04 Bengals vs DAL
03 Jaguars vs NYJ
02 Bills vs STL
01 Redskins vs BAL

Year-to-date: 123-55 (0.691 winning percentage)

MY PICK: SEAHAWKS - Some still alive could very well still have the Seahawks left. They are rock solid at home and facing a Cardinals team that is putting a QB they readily admitted two weeks they couldn't win with back under center. With playoffs on the line for Seattle there will be no slip ups here.

OUT ON A LIMB: BROWNS - It was nice to see the Chiefs get an emotional win last week after the tragedy in Kansas City. Now it's time for reality to sink in, they are a terrible team. The Browns are much better than the record indicates and are at home.

Season Starting Balance: $500
Balance Heading Into Week: $252

$110 Patriots -3.5

$110 Jaguars +3

$55 Bears -3

Office Pool Picks: Week 13

1. December 2012  - Published by Dan Clasgens

I only managed to go 9-7 in my confidence pool picks in WEEK 12, but I am still picking winners at a 71 percent clip this season. Both Survivor picks of the Broncos and Bengals came through as I went 2-1 ATS getting the Ravens win and the over on GB/NYG, but failing to cover the 10.5 points with the Broncos at KC. Here's my Week 13 picks:

CONFIDENCE POOL
SURVIVOR PICK
AGAINST SPREAD

16 49ers at STL
15 Cowboys vs PHI
14 Packers vs MIN
13 Broncos vs TB
12 Ravens vs PIT
11 Patriots at MIA
10 Bengals at SD
09 Texans at TEN
08 Panthers at KC
07 Giants at WAS
06 Jets vs ARZ
05 Bears vs SEA
04 Bills vs JCK
03 Falcons vs NO
02 Lions vs IND
01 Raiders vs CLE

Year-to-date: 114-48 (0.704 winning percentage)

MY PICK: 49ERS - San Francisco is not going to overlook the Rams this time around after a Week 10 tie in San Fran. I'm not big on taking road teams and try to shy away from divisional matchups, but look for the 49ers to roll in this one.

OUT ON A LIMB: JETS - This could be my biggest out on the limb pick of the year, but the Cardinals have dropped seven straight games and Ryan Lindley is clearly not ready for the NFL. With Arizona making the long road trip it's tough for me to see them pulling out a win.

Season Starting Balance: $500
Balance Heading Into Week: $262

$110 49ers -7

$55 Bengals -1.5

$55 Eagles +11

Office Pool Picks: Week 12

24. November 2012  - Published by Dan Clasgens

The 13-1 mark I posted in my confidence pool picks in WEEK 11 was impressive. My Survivor pick of Atlanta wasn't easy, but came through. Unfortunately, I went out on a limb with the Rams and was disappointed as they let the Jets beat them. That was one of two picks I missed against the spread. Here we go with my Week 12 picks:

CONFIDENCE POOL
SURVIVOR PICK
AGAINST SPREAD

16 Patriots vs NYJ
15 Broncos at KC
14 Ravens at SD
13 Bengals vs OAK
12 Steelers at CLE
11 Titans at JCK
10 Colts vs BUF
09 Seahawks at MIA
08 Redskins at DAL
07 Panthers at PHI
06 Lions vs HOU
05 Bears vs MIN
04 Cardinals vs SEA
03 Saints vs SF
02 Giants vs GB
01 Bucs vs ATL

Year-to-date: 105-41 (0.719 winning percentage)

MY PICK: BRONCOS - Peyton Manning and the Broncos are firing on all cylinders and they are not going to let a struggling Chiefs' team be a road block to their success.

OUT ON A LIMB: BENGALS - The Raiders' defense has been terrible and the Bengals are heating up. Carson Palmer quit on his teammates and now they get to say thank you in a way he won't soon forget.

Season Starting Balance: $500
Balance Heading Into Week: $212

$110 Ravens PK

$55 Broncos -10.5

$55 Over 50.5 GB/NYG

Office Pool Picks: Week 11

17. November 2012  - Published by Dan Clasgens

Overall it was a pretty good run of things in WEEK 10. I went 9-4 with my confidence picks. Nailed both Survivor picks (PIT and TB), though I sweated it out a bit the Steelers. More impressively I went 3-0 ATS. Now it's time to keep things rolling. Here are my picks for this week's action:

CONFIDENCE POOL
SURVIVOR PICK
AGAINST SPREAD

14 Texans vs JCK
13 Rams vs NYJ
12 Broncos vs SD
11 49ers vs CHI
10 Cowboys vs CLE
09 Bengals at KC
08 Falcons vs ARZ
07 Patriots vs IND
06 Packers at DET
05 Redskins vs PHI
04 Saints at OAK
03 Bills vs MIA
02 Bucs at CAR
01 Ravens at PIT

Year-to-date: 92-48 (0.657 winning percentage)

MY PICK: FALCONS - Coming off their first loss of the season the Falcons return home to host the Cardinals, though I think it will be closer than some expect I have a tough time seeing Atlanta drop two straight.

OUT ON A LIMB: RAMS - Tying is like kissing your sister, but the fact is that not only did the Rams look good at San Fran they should have won the game. The Jets are a mess a second straight week on the road vs. a non-conference opponent doesn't spell good things.

Season Starting Balance: $500
Balance Heading Into Week: $322

$110 Over 52 GB/DET

$55 Rams -3.5

$55 Cardinals +10
