Xavier fans, check the police blotter!

7. April 2008  - Published by Jimmy Dinsmore

Drew Lavender was arrested and charged with public intoxication and possession of marijuana. But how can this be? Xavier players, as their fans will point out, aren't punks. They don't get into trouble like those thug UC players. They're smarter and better people than the criminals in Clifton. This must be some kind of mistaken identity. Perhaps it was really Chris Henry. But wait, this is Lavender's second run in with the police. He previously had the police called on him when he was biligerant in a downtown club and refused to leave peacefully. He was heard yelling F*** this white club. That can't be possible either. As everyone knows Xavier players are law abiding and not street punks. That's not how they act in Evanston, that's how they act in Clifton. These type of players just aren't recruited or sought out by Xavier, those are the types of players who take the court for the Bearcats.

Oh wait, that's not true. So, how bout this X fans. I'll never bring this up again (or go into details on the numerous other legal run ins with X players) if you all drop all the crap about the horse punching, etc. from Donald Little et. al. from a previous time. I personally did laugh aloud when I heard this and have given my X friends a hard time through email because they'd be the first ones to do the same should it have been a UC player who got arrested. I'll uphold my promise to let this go, but I'm sure X fans won't return the favor as they love to talk about the criminals at UC.

Jimmy what is your deal with Xavier?

Didn't they recognize your bad minton or croquet skills and offer you a free ride?

Wasn't your ACT or SAT scores high enough?

You sure have a chip on your shoulder when it comes to them.

You only have one problem, J.D.  Lavender is not technically an XU player anymore.  He was a senior who has played his last game.  My guess is that he's not even bothering to show up on campus for classes anymore, if he ever did to begin with.  He'll be just another delusional ballplayer that thinks he can make it in the NBA, when in reality he'll wind up in either the D-League or Europe.

What he does when he's finished with school, whether that's technically correct or not, is not XU's responsibility.

And considering I'm a Texas alum, I must say:  This is what happens when you take Oklahoma's rejects.  If they can't even survive at OU, they can't survive anywhere.

the fact that he's a senior doesn't exempt him. And Bret, it's well documented that I despise Xavier. Always have, always will. Much like you despise puppies, rainbows, income tax refund checks, loose women and anything else.

Donald Little was not on the Bearcats any more when he tied down and tortured some dude with a coat hanger. Does that exempt him? No it's still former Bearcat . . . just like the Lavender headline is star Xavier player busted for pot.

Jimmy,
Drew Lavender suffers from an often overlooked horrible pain to live with called LMD (Little Man's Disease).  Three plus years ago it got him booted off the OU team in Norman.

Napolean first introduced the disease to mankind 220 years ago.  For those of us who are vertically challenged there is a breaking point! For "Nappy" it was Waterloo for Drew it was Corryville.

Lavender had just had enough of the beat down, in bad dance bars, on his teams biggest rivals' campus.  A "double deuce" and some "whacky-tabacky" and it was game on.  Drew had tipped his boiling point feeling smaller than normal in a college setting that would push him into a "street" corner.

Sub-zero temperatures and Russian Vodka did in "Nappy."  It's not hard to comprehend a XU student looking for love on UC's gets put in his place.

Life is hard in the 5'9" and under club -  sometimes we all just want to go above the rim and dunk, just once!  Unfortunately the odds are way stacked against the vertically challenged.

LMD is a serious crutch, Jimmy Dinsmore - I call you out to make a difference in the future for those who suffer from the life-long stigma that affects millions world wide - LMD!
