Mets Aren't Messing Around

12. July 2008  - Published by Greg Simons
Far more credit will go to Jerry Manuel than he actually deserves, but, whatever the spark, the New York Mets are charging hard.  The Amazins have won eight straight games and set a modern-day record by allowing three or fewer hits in each of their last five victories.  New York was the pick of many prognosticators to be the class of the National League, and while that has not come to pass - at least not yet - they sit only a half-game out of first place in the NL East.  It just may be that the Mets rule the roost in the senior circuit before the season is over.

The Mets are the team to beat. In recent weeks not only have their studs begun to come around, guys like Damion Easley and Fernando Tatis have been big contributors. If Pedro can find his groove and Mike Pelfrey and Oliver Perez stay hot there may be no stopping them. And don't forget how Santana pitches in the second half.

Pedro had shoulder stiffness again. They're going to have to make some deals. Maybe another pitcher and some relief help.

Over the past few years the Mets Continue to fold at the end of the season they cant handle the pressure for right now they are good but once they get into first place the pressure will start to pile on with the Phillys knocking on the door. And it looks like if your not going to win your division outside of the NL Central that you dont have a chance at the wild card the cubs cardinals and brewers are too good to not determine the out come in the NL wild card race
