99. CLASGENS - Giants DEF
100. PREUTH - Ladell Betts - WA

My Picks: Galloway is the fourth receiver I have selected, but one that easily could emerge as a weekly starter on my roster. Somewhere between 80 and the 100th picks overall you can expect to see these type of wideouts fall off the board. His age is a concern though, but I still think he has upside after getting 98 targets last year. The Giants defense could be argued as fantasy's top option and easily a top 5 unit and some 30 picks later than the first defenses - San Diego and Minnesota - went off the board. I took heat from SIMS earlier, but he only has two wideouts on his team right now (Chad and Calvin Johnson) and I have added veterans Kevin Curtis and Joey Galloway as insurance. The Giants could easily equal or surpass the output by the others. Don't kid yourself, I am big on having a good defense, but this year there simply is not enough seperation in the top 6-8 units to justify taking one early. BUILD DEPTH AT KEY POSITIONS.

Nice Finds: Owen Daniels (84), Justin Fargas (90), Chester Taylor (94)

Final Take: Many teams still need backup QB's and kickers. Most have TE and a DEF at this point. The key to success in the later rounds is knowing what owners need what.

Bernard Berrian is a fourth WR on my team. He could be useful in the right match-ups. If he can grab nearly 1,000 yards from Grossman/Orton then Tavaris Jackson isn't exactly a downgrade.

My two back-up RBs are Fred Taylor and DeAngelo Williams. Both are actually the starting backs for their respective teams. Sure, they will be splitting time but to pick them up in the sixth and ninth round - as back-ups - is a pretty good deal.

I have one of the teams that has yet to draft a Defense. As Dan mentioned there is little difference in the top teams. And I think there are still three or four teams available that will finish in the top ten for the season. It also helps to only be in a 10-team league. In bigger leagues it is tough to wait on a good D.

Fargas is my supervalue pick of this draft.  I played off all the Darren McFadden hype.  There are a lot of owners who are going to go ga-ga over McFadden, and want him in the early rounds.  There are yet other owners that will think McFadden will be the de-facto starter in Oakland.  Either way, Fargas is the forgotten man.

But he shouldn't be.

McFadden is not going to be a "true" tailback; he's too talented.  The Raiders are already on record as saying they want to find as many ways as possible to get the ball in his hands.  That means that they are going to "Reggie Bush" him.  They'll split him out wide.  They'll bring him out of the backfield.  They'll put him in the slot.  Basically, he'll be all over the field.

Fargas will be the "true" tailback.   And he'll be good.  Yes, McFadden will take away some of Fargas' carries, but Fargas will have plenty of touches on his own.  He'll do the dirty work, to McFadden's big play ability.

Remember:  In Bush's first year in the league, the Saints used him all over the field; meanwhile, Duece McAllister was the "true" tailback who did all the grunt work between the tackles.  McAllister went for over 1,000 yards rushing that season and tacked on double-digit TDs (10).  I don't foresee Fargas getting that many TD's, but I wouldn't be surprised to see 1,000 yards, or better, and 5-7 TDs.

You can't beat that kind of production in the 10th Round.

Humbert - I would hardly say that DeAngelo Williams and Fred Taylor are reliable backups, you better cross your fingers.

I was pretty happy to be able to get Owen Daniels in Round 9.  The guy 63 balls last year for a fairly hefty 12.2 ypc, totaling 768 yards.  These numbers could have been better as Matt Schaub got hurt about 2/3rds of the way through the season.  You'll notice that after Schaub's injury, Daniels' numbers began to trail off.  If Schaub (and Daniels) can stay healthy, I see no reason why the big TE couldn't reach the 1,000yd and 6 TD mark this year.

As for my defense....I....uhhh...needed one.  So I picked the best available.  That's really all there was to it.

I'm not gonna lie, I hate my Coles pick. It was the right guy to take because after about tier 3, all the WRs suck. Coles is a Tier 4 type WR in my book and sadly is my third WR. He'll get yards, but that's it. The Jets QB situation is a mess. It scares me. That's why I questioned the Cotchery pick so much earlier. That guy is too inconsistent too. So, Coles was "best" available at a position I've smooched the pooch on. If we were playing this out, I'd be actively pursuing a WR in trade or waivers. Now, my Bears defense pick made me happy. I showed patience rather than taking someone earlier than they should've. On my list I had the Bears as third (behind Minnesota and San Diego), so getting them this late was a good thing. If it weren't for one Devin Hester, I wouldn't value them so high, but Hester is a game breaker and someone that teams gameplan for when they face the Bears. yes, he's only valuable to me, a fantasy owner, when he breaks a TD, not getting good field position for the Bears. But, those 2 or 3 times he breaks one, is what I'm banking on. Plus, the Bears aren't slouches on defense and Urlacher (while way overrated) has resigned and that should help the team in general.

Schaub was picked for me because I was unavailable; while I don't hate him as a QB2 I could have had the guy I really would have picked here - David Garrard.  Reliable, not prone to interceptions, that's the guy I want to fill in when need arises.

I picked the Dallas defense because I think they are improved over a solid starting fantasy defense from last year.  Pacman Jones can't hurt - if he can stay on the field and stay in trouble off of it.

I feel I got really good value here in both rounds. With Driver in the 9th round, I have a guy that could potentially be in my starting lineup as a flex player. I am stacked at wideout really, so this just added to that.

My pick of Eli in the 10th round gave me my starting QB. While most guys have had their starting QB for many rounds now, and for whatever reason one guy (SIMS) drafted his backup a round ahead of me drafting Manning, I was quite pleased to get him here. I was looking to get Cutler but wasn't upset that I had to "settle" for Eli at all. Hopefully his confidence from the playoffs and Super Bowl will carry over into this year and his INTs will go down while his yards and TDs go up. I feel that will be the case and he'll end up giving me output that will far exceed where I was able to snag him in this mock draft.
