After playing for the first month of the season without many of his weapons, Seattle quarterback Matt Hasselbeck will welcome back most of his offense as the team comes off a bye for a matchup with the Giants.
Bobby Engram and Deion Branch will both return to action at receiver, giving Hasselbeck some legitimate targets to throw to, finally. Engram, who has been out since early August with a shoulder injury, led the team with 94 catches last season. Branch is coming off an ACL injury, so there are more questions with his progress as the legs are so key in a receivers success.
The team's starting Maurice Morris (knee) status for Week is still a bit murky, but it doesn't appear he's at 100% yet. In his absence newcomer Julius Jones has emerged as the Seahawk's top running option and will likely continue to be as long as he's producing.
All three players are worth a stab on the waiver wire, particularly the receivers. I still prefer Engram slightly over Branch though based off last year's performance and the types and severity of injuries they are both coming off.
Expect to see a boost in Matt Hasselbeck's value with more viable options back in the mix, but he's still a borderline starting option that deserves a look in the right match-ups. Sunday's match-up with the Giants does not qualify. Also, look for tight end John Carlson to see a reduction in his targets.
