Ticket prices for the Super Bowl are down 38 percent in the secondary market, according to Reuters.
StubHub’s Sean Pate said he’s seeing more tickets for under $2,000 than ever before.
“We don’t normally see these prices until a few days before the game,” he said. “For single tickets, face value is a realistic possibility.”
Roger Goodell will be happy to hear that. The commissioner addressed the issue of inflated prices in the secondary market a few months ago.
“The real trick, though, is getting them into the hands of fans who aren’t going to re-sell them,” Goodell told FoxSports.com’s Alex Marvez. “They buy them at a decreased price because we want them to have the opportunity to come to the game but they then get offered four, five, 10 times the value. That’s not what we’re trying to create. We’re trying to be sure they get to those who want to go to the game and experience a Super Bowl.”
