Mitchell Would Have Made Huggins Proud

1. March 2009  - Published by Bret Sims

Syracuse is pounding UC by 20 points.

Yancey Gates is on the bench with two early fouls.

Alvin Mitchell makes no attempt to touch the ball on his extremely hard foul on a Syracuse player going up for a layup.  He knocks the guy out of bounds and then just walks away.

Mitchell was called for a flagrant foul and tossed out of the game.

What a classless act to not even try and help the guy up nor did Mick seem to have a problem with it.

Looks like Mick Cronin is falling right in line with Bob Huggins style of coaching.

UC gets their ass handed them, lays an egg and THIS is the thing you're griping about. This team needs a little toughness and swagger. I did not see that play, heard about, but I saw plenty of other things to blog about against UC that wasn't this. But, I expect nothing else from Bret "I hate puppies and rainbows" Sims.

Bret,  I have to say, it's a pretty weak post.  UC's guys don't get in trouble.  They go to class.  Their collective GPA is very good.  One incident doesn't spoil three years of walking the line.

Don't you have anything better to worry about???

The only thing worth commenting about was that foul because UC's play sure as heck wasn't.  They gave up in the second half and if Mick could have he should have simply forfeited the game.  Jeff are you trying to defend the actions of Mitchell by saying UC's players go to class and have a good GPA?  If so that is pretty weak.

I'm saying you're acting like he pulled a Tonya Harding on him or gave him a shot to the twig and berries. It was a hard foul. Probably out of frustration. It's not so egregious as to post about what a bunch of thugs these kids are. This was one aggressive foul in a bad game. One. That's not a pattern.

The fact that he made no attempt to pick up the player he fouled and the fact that Mick didn't seem to have an issue with his lack of sportsmanship is what is concerning and considering UC's history I don't think my comments are a far stretch.

Bret, I'm done with this.  You're digging WAY too hard.  Keep trying though.  Just remember UK's history isn't ummm squeaky clean, so you better hope Clyde doesn't slip up, because remember it's part of UK's "history" so apparently we'll be able to reference Eddie Sutton and Adolph Rupp's misgivings.

But you have fun with this ridiculous argument.
