Calipari Headed To UK

from GetSportsRadio.com:

The Kentucky coaching search may have very well have reached it's final stop. FoxSports.com is reporting that "talks between Kentucky and Memphis coach John Calipari have intensified and the two sides are moving closer to an agreement that could make him the highest-paid coach in the country."

According to sources close to the Tigers coach, Calipari is close to a deal that will pay him in excess of $5 million per season.

The Memphis Commercial is reporting that John Calipari plans to decide whether to accept Kentucky’s offer to become its basketball coach sometime Tuesday afternoon.

Calipari is weighing a multi-million-dollar offer from UK. Meanwhile, Memphis has made a strong counter-proposal that would make him set for his working life and into retirement.

He appears to be a bit indecisive at this time, but he's expected to make a decision sometime on Wednesday.

TrueBlueKentucky.com’s Marc Maggard joined hosts Dan Clasgens and Chad Brendel on GetSportsRadio.com’s Daily Dose LIVE from 1:00 to 2:00 p.m. Eastern on Monday.

Maggard recaped a crazy weekend in Lexington and provided up-to-date info on where the UK coaching search is heading, including the school’s talks with Memphis head coach John Calipari.

In addition, Dan and Chad recapped all the Elite Eight action,  took a first look at the Final Four, and previewed the AL East. Check out the show’s station page to listen on-demand and for more info about our new show.

this is about the biggest impact move UK could've done. There is no question that Calipari can recruit. He might be the best recruiter in the country. Imagine what he can do with a better conference behind him and a "name" like UK too. Wow. He had the #1 recruiting class coming in to Memphis (which is not a strong conference and isn't a national brand like UK). I wonder if any of those kids will follow Cal to UK. I'm by no means a UK fan, but this is a big deal for them.
Is he up for the pressures of the idiot fan base? Immediate success will be expected.
I also think this will cripple Memphis, unless they can land an impact coach, but who would take that job with a crappy conference behind you and perhaps half the good recruits jumping ship and the returning talent going to the NBA. Gregory from UD might be a candidate. Bobby Lutz? Neither of them will keep the Tigers up to their Sweet 16 level.

Jimmy this is a homerun for Kentucky. You can look for most of his current class to come and a few top recruits as well. This is HUGE!!!

Regardless of who comes to Memphis they will not be able to win 90% of their games. C-USA is terrible.

Tim Floyd could return back South???
