Cubs Cut Freel

Former Red Ryan Freel, who the team traded this off-season to the Orioles for catcher Ramon Hernandez, has been cut for the second time this season.

The Cubs designated Ryan Freel for assignment to create a spot on the roster for newly acquired infielder Jeff Baker becomes official, who came over from the Rockies.

Freel batted only .143/.226/.143 in 28 at-bats for the Cubs this year.
