The Madness has already begun on the college hardwood and the Big East Tournament is no different.
On Thursday, three of the top four seeds fell including top-ranked Syracuse, who is widely considered a lock as No. 1 seed in the upcoming NCAA tournament despite the loss to Georgetown.
Villanova and Pittsburgh also fell, meaning three of the conference’s top three seeds failed to make it to the semi-finals.
Cincinnati’s quest to make the dance in all likelihood came to end though, as the Bearcats fell to West Virginia in a heartbreaker.
UC had the ball with :06 left on the clock and the game tied, but Dion Dixon dribbled the ball of his knee and gave the Mountaineers the ball back with 1.8 seconds on the clock.
Bearcats’ coach Mick Cronin opted not to have anyone on the ball on the inbounds pass (a costly move) and that allowed DeSean Butler to easily get open at the top of the key. Lance Stephenson got a solid hand in his face, but Butler banked in a prayer at the buzzer to knock off Cincinnati and advance.
