Celtics Pull Even

7. June 2010  - Published by Dan Clasgens

After dominating the Boston Celtics in Game 1, the Los Angeles Lakers came up short in the second game in L.A. on Sunday night losing at home 103-94.

The Celtics got out of the gate early behind seven first-half three-point field goals from Ray Allen and then held off a Lakers’ charge with the help from stellar play from guard Rajon Rondo.

Allen finished with 32 points (27 in first half) and Rondo came up with his fifth triple-double of the playoffs as he added 19 points, pulled down 12 boards and dished out 10 assists.

Kobe Bryant scored 21 points and Pau Gasol led all Lakers’ scorers with 25 points while grabbing eight boards in the loss.

This marked the first time since 2004 that home team did not sweep the first two games of the NBA Finals.

The series now moves to Boston for Game 3 on Tuesday night.  This game is going to be big. In the history of the NBA Finals the two teams have been tied at 1-1 in the series 32 times.  The team that wins Game 3 has gone on to win the championship 28 times.
