Last season the Raiders’ Zach Miller emerged as legitimate threat at tight end as he caught 66 balls for 805 yards. In fact, over the past two years only four players (Dallas Clark, Antonio Gates, Tony

Gonzalez, and Jason Witten) amassed more receiving yards at the position.
The down side to Miller in 2009 was that he only scored three times and has only seven touchdowns over the past three seasons. However, two factors suggest this could be his breakout season.
For starters, Oakland finally has a starting quarterback as they brought in Jason Campbell during the off-season and parted with ways with big time bust JaMarcus Russell. Campbell is far from Jim Plunkett, but he does give the Raiders a capable passer in the pocket. During his tenure with the Redskins, Campbell developed a good rapport with his tight ends (i.e. Chris Cooley) and that bodes well for Miller.
Secondly, Miller is entering a contract year and that should be the extra motivation he needs to have a big year.
It is unlikely that Miller will be taken as a top five or six tight end in many leagues, but by year’s end he could easily finish there, particularly in PPR formats. Don’t hesitate taking him with a mid-to-late round pick.
