Pittsburgh was chosen as the overwhelming favorite to win the Big East football championship in the conference's preseason media poll that was released Tuesday. Rutgers was picked to finish fifth.

The Panthers received 22 of 24 first-place votes in the poll of media representatives from each of the eight Big East markets.

Cincinnati and West Virginia tied for second in the preseason poll, and Connecticut placed fourth
