It’s Tuesday and that means it’s time for my weekly waiver wire recommendations:
PICKUP OF THE WEEK
Brandon Jackson (GB) – With the news on Tuesday that Ryan Grant will be placed on injured reserve, Jackson immediately becomes the first major waiver-wire must-have candidate of the 2010 season. Owners smart enough to handcuff Grant with Jackson are breathing a sigh relief. Others are beginning to panic. Playing in the Packers' explosive offesne Jackson will be a productive RB2 should he hold onto the job. At the very least he'll prove to be a nice flex option.
QB
--Kyle Orton (DEN) – Looked good in Week 1 and I love his schedule down the stretch. Not a bad a QB2
--Michael Vick (PHI) – QB controversy brewing in Philly? Don’t count Vick out yet.
--Matt Hasselbeck (SEA) – Don’t get carried away as his age still concerns me. Still has production left.
RB
--Bernard Scott (CIN) – Entered the season as one of my favorite sleeper picks and looked the part.
--Fred Taylor (NE) – With Laurence Maroney dealt to Denver his value gets a spike.
--Peyton Hillis (CLE) – Looks as if his role in Cleveland is going to be enough to warrant a spot.
WR
--Legedu Naanee (SD) – Another sleeper from my preseason rankings that blew up in Week 1
--Mark Clayton (STL) – Loved the chemistry he displayed with former college QB, Sam Bradford
--Mike Williams (SEA) – What a story! I was reluctant at first, but count me as a believer
--Louis Murphy (OAK) – The Raiders best option in the passing game outside, at least at receiver
--Greg Camarillo (MIN) – It may take a few weeks for it to develop, but expect his role to increase
TE
--Jermaine Gresham (CIN) – The rookie is going to be a fantasy factor at a deep position
--Rob Gronkowski (NE) – Both of the Pats’ rookie tight ends are worth a look; I favor him slightly
--Dustin Keller (NYJ) – Is going to get targets as Mark Sanchez’s dump-off guy
DEF/ST
--Patriots – Displayed great speed versus the Bengals and are always a factor
--Titans – For some reason it seems as if Tennessee is always undervalued
--Chiefs – Their special teams’ weapons make them an appealing option
