Xavier University announced today that junior guard Brad Redford suffered a left knee anterior cruciate ligament tear that will require reconstructive surgery.
"Brad Redford suffered a left knee anterior cruciate ligament tear during a practice session yesterday," Xavier University Head Team Physician Robert R. Burger, M.D., said. "Because of the nature of the injury, he will undergo reconstructive surgery sometime in the near future. We anticipate Brad will miss the 2010-11 season but will make a full recovery for the future."
Redford, one of the nation’s top 3-point shooters, played in 66 games in his first two seasons as a Musketeer, averaging 5.2 ppg. Redford, who finished first in the Atlantic 10 Conference in 3-point shooting percentage as a freshman with a school-record 46.5 percent accuracy, finished second as a sophomore at 42.5 percent. Out of his 108 career field goals, 101 of those were 3-pointers.
Redford earned Michigan “Mr. Basketball” honors during his record-breaking career at Frankenmuth High School.
