Week 8 in college football finds the contenders separating themselves from the pretenders. That scenario is likely going on in your NCAA fantasy football league too. So, here’s what you can expect for Week 8.
QB
Landry Jones, Oklahoma – Talk about your underachievers. Ever since he got rid of the world’s worst mustache, all of his quarterbacking ability left too. Perhaps he should grow it back. But, Jones has come on late with back to back 20+ fantasy point weeks, including a 321 yard, 2-TD effort versus a tough Texas defense. This week he gets a woeful Kansas team, so expect nice numbers from Jones.
Matt Scott, Arizona – You know what’s better than back-to-back 300 yard games? Back-to-back 400 yard games. That’s what Scott has done since Week 5 for Arizona. This week he gets Washington in what is sure to be a shoot out and another solid effort from Scott.
RB
Montee Ball, Wisconsin – I drafted Ball in the top 3 in my NCAA league and had regretted that decision for a bit. But these last couple of weeks Ball has finally shown his value, including his 247 yard, 3-TD performance last week against Purdue. This week he gets a lousy Minnesota squad for a ripe performance.
Jawan Jamison, Rutgers – Rutgers is quietly one of the few undefeated teams in the NCAA. Some of that is due to the running of Jamison who does not put up huge numbers, but is steady and consistent. At this point in the season, you’ll take steady, double digit point production and a trip to the end zone out of your running back. Against Temple this week, it’s almost a certainty.

WR
Allen Robinson, Penn State – The Nittany Lions are not known as a passing team. But Robinson is case in point that someone has to get the ball as last week he put up 9 catches for 85 yards and 2 TDs. This week at Iowa, look for Robinson to make for a nice sneaky play for solid production.
Austin Hill, Arizona – I can’t really put Matt Scott on this list without putting his top receiver here. Hill caught 11 passes last week and has recorded 4 TDs over the last games for the Wildcats. As mentioned, Arizona has quite a friendly matchup.
TE
Jake McGee, Virginia – The tight end position is such a crap shoot, so this is more of a gut call than anything. McGee goes against Wake Forest this week and should get about 4 catches and maybe find the end zone. You could do worse than McGee this week, that’s for sure.
Rory Anderson, South Carolina – The only value a college tight end has to a fantasy squad is by scoring touchdowns. Anderson has 4 TDs for the Gamecocks. He’s found the end zone 2 of the last 3 games, so roll the dice and assume he’ll find pay dirt again this week at LSU. It’s a tougher matchup, but points will be scored.
